NGW Announces New Main Campus at SUNY Purchase

Dear Friends of NGW,

All of us here at the National Guitar Workshop are very excited to announce our new main campus at SUNY Purchase.

This is a great move for us with better facilities, quality performance and learning space, and, best of all, all dorms have air conditioning!

This move will also make travel easier for students with the Westchester Airport bordering the campus and nearby train stations providing easy access to and from New York City. All of the classes will be more centralized in order to give our NGW students a better overall experience.

The 2009 NGW SUNY Purchase dates are as follows:

Week 1 July 19 – 24

Week 2 July 26 – 31

Week 3 Aug 2 - 7

Week 4 Aug 9 - 14

NGW is currently working on updating our website to reflect our new campus. Please check back often for new information.

If you plan to take advantage of our early enrollment program by enrolling online, please choose CT if you are planning to attend our SUNY Purchase campus.

Please check out SUNY Purchase’s website at www.purchase.edu.

If you have any further questions about our SUNY Purchase campus, please call us at 800-234-6479.

More dates and locations will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

Darn .... just when I finally found the right route to drive to New Millford ...
Will SUNY Purchase keep the pool open?

Jim,

There are many hotels in the area that are very close. You could easily stay in White Plains or Rye and be within 10 minutes of campus.

This year will be my first, but I'm disappointed with the move. At SUNY I'll have to go home each night instead of staying on campus with the other students. That's not what I had in mind. For me it removes the immersion element. I think that's important. But I'll still be there.

Hello, The only concern I have is if there is a bed and breakfast or reasonable hotel nearby. As a member of the Round Table (Older Folks Club), It is difficult to stay on campus with the young folks. Not that they are not well behaved. They were a joy to be with all day. But in the evening it is nice to chill out in quiet surroundings. Please let us know about this. AND WHEN IS BLUES WEEK.

I shall miss CT after 9-10 years but look very much forward to the new setting. It sounds as if there will be less hill climbing, and for those in the dorms, A/C will be a blessing.

We haven't decided which week will be the blues week as we are waiting to hear back from our potential guest artists. The rooms for the adults are apartment style with a kitchen, living room and four single bedrooms. This means that every adult will get their own private bedroom. Also, they have AC. I don't think you will be bummed about the rooms if you decide to stay on campus and it will be a CONSIDERABLE upgrade from Canterbury.

I look forward to the new location. From google maps it looks nice.

It should be as safe and laid back as New Milford was. The campus is surrounded by country clubs and golf courses. Looks like a really nice neighborhood, and the campus looks nice too.
